According to Visit Pensacola, a small ceremony at one of the four public beach access points on Perdido Key does not require a permit, provided there is no impact on other beachgoers; larger weddings do require permits. Johnson Beach is part of Gulf Islands National Seashore, so fees and permit requirements come from the National Park Service. Many of the same beach basics apply as on Pensacola Beach — stay off the dunes, skip glass and open flames, and take everything with you.
Across the state line in Alabama, the cities of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores set their own beach wedding rules, so check with the city (or your beach house rental company) before finalizing your ceremony spot. Private venues and rental homes usually give you the most freedom for lighting, dance floors and décor.
